Chapter 3:
Reunion

December 11th, 501 BC

Alpha woke Helen up the very next morning for a walk into the jungle. He kept going into every single detail about planets and moons in each star system. They were so in depth that it was hard for her to keep up. She knew that getting caught by other Spacers would get her in danger leading to serious consequences.

Then Alpha found that she wasn’t paying attention, felt embarrassed, and said, “Oh dear, I am sorry! Did my details get you confused?”

“There is so much I don’t understand and your lectures were too fast for me,” she shook her head.

“Oh sorry,” Alpha apologized. “I believe it would be better if I show you.”

    “Show me what?” she asked.

“Well the planets of course!” Alpha waved his arm toward a green object the size of a large cart with metal wings on the back.

“That is the ship I saw while being carried,” she pointed to that vehicle.

“Very good,” Alpha sounded impressed. “Fabocusa used this ship to transport you away from Greece to this remote island. This ship has thrusters fueled by hydrogen undergoing nuclear fusion in a similar function to the sun. The thrusters release about four point nine times ten to the fifty-ninth power when launched and can reach a destination at the speed of five point five times ten to the fortieth power meters per second.”

Helen shook her head in confusion. Alpha hesitated and said, “Basically, this ship would take you anywhere in space.”

She smiled and ran into the cockpit as it was opened. Alpha hovered over the controls and the systems came online. Buttons, switches, and screens started blinking and made beeping sounds that made her freeze in her seat.

“Don’t worry,” Alpha adjusted the volume and patted her head. “These are telling us that the ship is ready for launch.”

“What if it isn’t?” she asked nervously.

“The ship will show any sections that need maintenance on our screens and they can be resolved,” he said. “Now, let me fasten your seat belts.”

He fastened her seat belt, grabbed the holographic joysticks, and placed his palms on a glowing blue square between them. The ship was already hovering over the island in half of a second. The thrusters whirled and the ship zipped from Earth and flew past the moon. Helen was beyond amazed as she looked at each planet they flew around. She pinched herself making sure this wasn’t a dream.

“Take a look at this planet,” said Alpha as they approached Mars, the fourth planet from the sun. “This Spacer colony is the only one that exists in this star system.”

As soon as she heard that word, she knew that he would have to be there. She pressed her hands against the glass to take a closer look down at its surface. She could see numerous domes that were each connected by tubes over the rusted iron Martian soil.

“These structures you are seeing are environmental domes that help keep the colonist alive since the planet's environment is too hostile due to the low atmospheric pressure and extremely low oxygen in this very thin atmosphere. What I mean is that the planet’s air is too hostile for us to breathe and that is why they are in these domes," said Alpha

Then a large ship out of nowhere appeared in orbit. It appeared as a set of three large blue glass spheres connected by a gold rail on each side with a wing. Their ship was being scanned by light orange rays from the larger ship. Then Alpha steered it towards an opening at the ship’s bottom as they were about to be docked.

“Excuse me,” said Alpha. “This ship that scanned us is called the Paradise. I need to speak to my authorities and then gather some more supplies.”

Their ship went through the small opening of the Paradise and landed after the door was closed. Now that they were in the hangar, Alpha said to Helen, “I need you to stay in the cockpit until I get back. Once I am back, we can continue our tour of the solar system.”

Meanwhile, an angry Spacer with his hair in a ponytail and wearing a metallic uniform entered Fabocusa's sleeping quarters. Fabocusa paced back and forth knowing that his best friend would be ranting about how stupid it was to save that girl. He shouted, "Did you realize what you did was wrong?!"

Fabocusa looked upon his friend who had a long pony tail and said, "Cahan, I couldn't bare seeing that girl suffer."

"Soon everyone would know what you did and they will exile you out of your family's kingdom!" Cahan shouted.

"I don't want everyone to find that out!" Fabocusa shouted. "Yes, I have risked exposing my identity to the Humans. But since I have taken her to a better home, there won't be anymore problems."

"Problems?!" Cahan thought Fabocusa wasn't thinking straight. "That girl would know everything about us and spread it to everyone on their planet!"

"The Humans think we are gods, there is no way she would ever do that!" Fabocusa shouted. "Besides, their technology ain't advanced enough to know what we really are."

"I don't like this!" Cahan shouted.

"Cahan, you are chief of high security and my best friend," Fabocusa patted his shoulder. "How bad would it be to help one girl?"

Alpha flew into Fabocusa's quarters like a busy bumblebee, "Master, I have some important information to tell you."

"Cahan, can you please give us some privacy?" Fabocusa asked him and his friend left him alone with Alpha.

"What is it?" Fabocusa asked with concern.

"Helen and I are docked into your ship," said Alpha.

"What is she doing here?" he asked as he began to panic.

"I was giving her a tour of the Solar System and then your ship transported us here," Alpha explained.

"You need to disable the security systems on the ship while I go see her," he ordered and left as fast as possible.

"Yes sir," Alpha saluted and began typing in codes on the wall.

As Helen looked through the glass of her personal ship, she could see that the hanger had giant glowing pillars with ships similar to hers in between. A Spacer went through a wall as if it were liquid. The Spacer had a black cape with his hood off showing his astonishing face and long hair. Helen’s heart leaped as she knew that it was the man who saved her life.

Helen watched as he crept toward her ship. He looked around to make sure there was no one around. As he got inside, she gazed upon his god-like eyes and smiled as he seemed to be the most charming man ever.

    “Hello,” he spoke.

Helen was speechless when he spoke to her. She couldn’t believe that this was happening. She said, “Hi.”

Both went silent for about a minute and she smiled, “I don’t know how much to thank you for saving my life!”

“Don’t thank me,” he raised his hand gracefully. “I just want to make sure you are still in good health. I’m sure that you are enjoying your new home and have been getting some good lessons from Alpha.”

“But how did you know I was in danger? Why did you save me?”

“My dear, you have so many questions, but we have limited time.”

    “What do you mean?”

“I had Alpha disabled the security sensors that would be repaired within three minutes. If you are exposed, we will be in serious danger. So we only have that much time to be together.”

He looked at the band on his wrist that showed him how much time he had. Then he would have to get her out of his ship.

“You may not see me again,” he informed her.

“But I want to see you again,” she said as he escorted her back to the ship.

“It is too dangerous for you to interact with us,” he said sadly.

As soon as she was back in the cockpit and the door was closed, the security sensors came back online and Fabocusa disappeared. Then Alpha went through the hangar door and returned to the ship with a couple boxes on his head.

“Helen, how good to see you!” Alpha cheered. “I got a couple boxes of dresses I thought you might like to try out when we get back to Earth. Now that we are out of the Paradise, we will fly by the asteroid belt and see the Gas Giants.”

Then he noticed that Helen was not paying attention to him and looked depressed. He asked, “Helen is everything alright?”

    “No,” she sighed.

“What is wrong?” he asked with concern.

She sighed again, “Fabocusa came to see me. He asked me if I was doing fine after I was rescued. Then he told me that I would not be able to see him again since I am a Human and can’t interact with him or any other Spacers.”

“He is right you know,” he sighed.

She felt disappointed that she can’t be with Fabocusa just because she was Human. She kept saying to herself that it was not fair.

“He cares about me,” Helen thought. “I want to learn more about the Universe. But not from just any resource, I want to learn from him.”

Alpha crept towards Helen trying not to disturb her. As he got closer to her, she turned her head to him.

“I am sorry about all of this,” he said. “I know how much you want to be with him since he rescued you.”

“How can he just save me and tell me that I can’t be with him?!” she shouted.

“To tell you the truth, I really don’t know,” he said.

“I wish I could be one of them,” she wished.

“Wait a minute, I have an idea!” Alpha flew out of his seat.

    "What is it?" she asked.

"This idea will be helpful," said Alpha. "Let's go back and I will show you."

"Will it be very helpful?" she asked.

    "Oh yes," he nodded.

After they finished the tour, Alpha hovered back into the house and looked through each box in her closet. He opened them and took out some dresses. He laid them down on the couch and hummed a song like a maid. Then he found a wooden box at the very corner of the closet. He grabbed it and hurried back to the beach where Helen was watching the sunset.

He said, “I have found this box kit containing some dye that is used to apply better coloring on dresses and will also make your skin turn white.”

    She raised her eyebrows, “What?”

“And these blue lenses are used to put in your eyes, but you can still see,” Alpha continued. “I could paint these lenses blue and you will still see through.”

“Wait a minute!” she got to her feet. “I will look like a Spacer?!”

“Yes,” said Alpha. “Now the dye would last for about a week so you have to reapply it. This is so that no one would think you are a Human and Fabocusa wouldn't get in trouble. It is the best way to help hide your identity.”

Alpha took her to the bathroom and dabbed the white dye on her face as a professional makeup artist getting her ready for a celebration. Then he rubbed it on her face and her neck. After he applied the dye, he braided her hair with swirling pins.

Next he opened a small box containing the blue lenses and said, “Ok, this may feel uncomfortable once I put these on.”

He held one of her eyes open and gently placed the lenses onto her eyes. He let go of her eyes and she covered them as if someone spilled something in them. She opened her eyes again and was able to see as if nothing happened to them.

Alpha backed away and gave her the thumbs up, “Alright, you are good as new!”

Helen slowly went up to a mirror and her heart stopped. She gazed upon a stranger that was the most beautiful woman in the galaxy. Her skin became white, her hair was braided, and her eyes became ocean blue. She realized that woman was herself and that she now looked like one of the Spacers. To her, this could mean she would be able to be with Fabocusa for as long as she wanted.
Hey guys, sorry about the delay. I have written the next chapter of Hybrid where Helen meets Fabocusa again. Then to blend in with the other Spacers, Alpha applied makeup to make her look like a Spacer so she could be with Fabocusa. I will post another chapter maybe tomorrow or Sunday. Leave any comments and critques and I will make the story better!

Some weird things going on in this chapter. “then he would not become” seems to have lost its last word, and the fourth to last paragraph (the dream) is repeated in the second to last paragraph. Using sites for editing help is fine, but READ YOUR CHAPTER before you re-post the “corrected” version.
