Chapter 13:
Reconnect?

Alpha hovered to the hangar and accelerated as he spotted Vyla. He cheered, “Vyla, how wonderful to see you again!”

Vyla slightly smiled at Alexander’s Spacer monitor, “How wonderful to see you too Alpha.”

David, Aoife, Howie, and Yuya joined into the commotion. They didn’t know that he was friends with an Aquamaid. Aoife went up to Alexander, looked at Vyla, and asked, “Hold on a second, you know each other?”

Vyla said to Aoife, “We grew up together a long time ago on Purelif. And who might you be?”

“I’m Aoife,” she said in a cheerful and began introducing the rest of the team. “This is Howie and Yuya! We and Alex are Republic Commandoes kicking Helbot ass at every planet!

“Don’t forget me,” David said to the group. “Vyla, you probably don’t remember me, but Alexander helped me escape from home so I could be with my grandmother.”

“David? You are with Alex too?” Vyla’s eyes widen as she too hadn’t seen him in years.

“You must be on fire,” Howie chuckled as he attempt to flirt with her.

Then Hortor and General Floundo enter the conversation. Hortor grunted, “Damn right we have been on fire! Those bastards chased us down from all the way from Clytemnestra system!”

Alexander recognized him as that bully who he and his friends attacked him on the day he met Vyla. Those bullies tried to scare him throughout elementary school. They stopped bullying him when he fell into a cavern that let him into an ancient Spacer base where one of the artificial intelligence told him he was the last of his kind. Or so they thought.

“Well Hortor, it has been a while,” Alexander crossed his arms.

“Alex, is that really you?” Hortor asked not sure since he had not seen him in like forever.

“We must introduce ourselves,” said General Floundo. “I am General Floundo of the Great Aquamaid Kingdom and this is Commander Hortor Dinosis and Lt. Vyla Veelet of my Vanguard army. We have been attacked by the Helbots on our colony world of Artica and crash landed here. We thank you for this rescue.”

“We are not out of the woods yet,” said Alexander. “They are on the other side of the planet.”

“As long as they don’t know we are still here, we would be fine for now,” said General Floundo. He turned to Alpha and asked, “Who’s this?”

“I am Alexander’s Spacer monitor Alpha,” said Alpha. “I collect and provide information to everyone.”

General Floundo turned to see the Cobains and David’s Casters. The soldiers walked closer to the Aquamaids and looked at each other as they never seen these people. David and Tloc introduced them to the rest of Alexander’s resistance. The Cobains backed away and looked at the Casters who they too had not seen other beings. Both groups muttered to each other wondered if they should trust them.

“So who is in charge of this crew?” General Floundo asked as he waved his hand to everyone in this hanger.

Alexander stepped forward to the Aquamaid soldiers and said, “My name is Alexander, for now I am in charge of the resistance.”

The hanger fell silent as he said that. Vyla and Hortor stared blankly as her childhood friend stated that. Hortor scratched his head wondered how he established his own group of marines and other resistance. Vyla never thought of him as that kind of person. Alexander’s team smiled as they knew he was.

“For now?” General Floundo asked him.

“Our colonel is in a coma,” said Alexander. “So that is why I said for now.”

“Well Alexander, we thank you again,” General Floundo shook Alexander’s hand. “And I’m sorry about your colonel.”

“You’re welcome,” said Alexander and looked to see that his men already removed their battle suits. “This is my ship, Helen’s Bravery. Why don’t my teammates show you around? You could be staying here for just a while.”

“That would be great,” General Floundo smiled.

“Why don’t I lead the tour,” said Alpha.

Alpha led the Aquamaids a tour of Helen’s Bravery. They first got to the engineering station and were awed at the monopole reactors. They were amazed how the marines and Casters helped the Cobains around to maintain the conditions of the ships. Usually Alpha kept explaining the functions of machines in each compartment over the top making them confused. Luckily, David and Aoife translate to basically what he was saying.

As they got to the armory, Alexander realized he was still wearing his starsuit. He left the group and walked to his quarters. As he got inside, he removed his index and the starsuit transformed into diamond pajama-like clothing. It got folded up and he puts it inside his nightstand. He got his other clothes back out and headed out.

In the hallway, Alexander spotted Vyla creeping up in one of the columns as if she was spying on him. She left the group to follow him. As he found her, she got out of her hiding spot and went up to him. She looked at him in anger and crossed her arms. He sighed knowing she was angry at him. He knew what she was going to say.

“Where have you been all this time?!” she snapped at him.

He sighed and looked down to the floor, “You have every right to be angry with me.”

“You damn right I do!” she shouted. “You abandoned me when the Helbots destroyed our home!”

He looked at her and shouted, “What the hell I was supposed to do?!”

She shook her head, “Well you could have stayed with me.”

“And then they would come after you too,” he said as he paced a couple of times. “They killed my mother and Uncle Nadnerb when they destroyed Chartorla. They made Alice sacrifice herself to destroy that Spacer portal that was on Purelif. Nearly everyone I was attached to for so long died as those machines kept hunting me down.”

“So you have been hiding from them?” she asked thinking he might have been scared.

“The first four years after the massacre I did,” he said admitting that he was. “But then I was recruited to the military and have been helping everyone fight the Helbots. As I helped others escape and fight back, I made new allies how became my friends. There was multiple times where I face near death experiences. One of them was trying to stop a Helbot general from using a stellar weapon to wipe out the galaxy. So overall, you could say I have been through hell as I was fighting them for 6 years!”

“The Helbots were coming after everyone, not just you,” she began to explain as she was defending. “Two months ago, I finished receiving my medical degree as I have been servicing as one of my people’s national guards on Sega. The Helbots came and attacked everyone. They came after my friends and family. Hortor and I had to take them down with all my strength. We were caught off from our generals, so we had sneak around the cities in order to get to our ships and escape. Ever since then, I went from being a national soldier into a vanguard. So overall, you could say I have been through hell as I was fighting them for 6 years too!”

“I still don’t think we’re even,” he shook his head.

Alexander had no idea what she had been through as he avoided her for so long. He only knew that he wanted to make sure she was still alive. She was alive. If she wasn’t, then he wouldn’t be able to rescue her as she got to this planet. He was relieved that she was still alive.

Then General Floundo interrupted their talk, “Alexander, you ship is fascinating! You must explain to us how this all started. I must know how you formed this resistance of yours.”

“Very well,” said Alexander. “Please follow me to the briefing room.”

General Floundo smiled at Alpha, “Thank you for this tour.”

    “My pleasure,” Alpha cheered.

The Spacer monitor hovered behind Alexander as they followed them into the briefing room. Vyla stayed behind for a while as she lets their conversation sink into her head. She had not seen him for ten years. The last time they spent was him leaving her and storming away out of the space station. Now that she finally got to see him again, he looked like a totally different person. She thought, is he the same person I remembered?

Alexander, his team, and David’s Casters sat at the right side of the table as General Floundo’s Aquamaids sat at the other. Alexander stood in the front of the room as he explained to them that they started out serving as marines under the command of Colonel Chan. Alpha displayed a holographic image of the Lotus as he explained how they stopped the Helbots from using it.

Then he told them they have been attacked by Cahan’s Spacers and yet survived their attack. He described to them what the Spacers’ looked like. General Floundo realized that it was the same kind of people that attacked Artica and tried to take their relic.

He said, “Those are the same people that were leading those machines against us. What do you know about them?”

Alpha explained, “The Spacers were one of the oldest beings in the galaxy that cultivated you and the other the primitives into civilization. They had been at war with the Titans who were reptilian beings lead by Seiton. The Titans wanted to wipe out all beings in hopes to recreating the Universe. But the Spacers exiled them out of the galaxy thousands of years ago. They wanted you and other young beings to be as advanced as they were as they prepared for Seiton and the Titans to return to galaxy in hopes of destroying them. But then Seiton came back as a computer virus and turned the Spacers’ technology against them and killed them all.”

“Or so we thought,” said Alexander.

Alpha continued, “Then Seiton used the last bits of their technology to create the Helbots and want to wipe out all race that came in contact with the Spacers.”

    “Which race?” General Floundo asked.

Alexander said, “The races he wants killed are Humans, Aquamaids, Tunains, Hygers, Komodos, Mowls, Arthors, and Cobains.”

General Floundo raised his eyebrows, “My gods that is all the races in the galaxy!”

    Alexander nodded.

Hortor rubbed his temples, “This makes no sense, why would the Spacers invade our colonies and lead the Helbots if they cultivated us before?”

“We don’t know, that is why we need to find my father and get back home,” said Alexander.

Vyla asked, “Your father? As in your Spacer father?”

“Yeah,” said Alexander. “There is one Spacer that is on our side I believe. He saved my live twice and gave me this battlesuit to smash the Helbots with more Spacer strength. He guided me in trying to reunite with my comrades and helped me destroy the Lotus.”

“More Spacer strength?” General Floundo looked at his soldiers with confusion and then looked at Alexander. “Are you a Spacer?”

“No, I am half human and half Spacer,” said Alexander. “We do not know how and why they turned against us. That is the reason that we have to get back to help stop the Spacers from invading our planets and find my father.”

“What about that relay on this planet?” Yuya asked. “Maybe that one could take us back to the Solar System.”

Alpha explained to the Aquamaids, “We have just started traveling through these ancient relays that were built by the Titans. Yet each one sets to travel to certain places. We would have to know which star cluster this one could take us.”

“But the Helbots could be still be on this planet looking for us,” warned Hortor.

Alpha said, “We flew out of the portal ten miles east of the hurricane. I was able to record the coordinates of its location which is 15°N, 62°E.”

“Hortor may be right,” said Alexander. “If the Helbots are still around in that area, then they’d probably be waiting for us.”

He typed a few buttons on the table and the globe of the planet flattened. Alpha inserted his finger into the table and uploaded the coordinates. The hurricane nearly halfway passed the area where they were fighting the Helbots. The relay was just thirty miles southwest of the first crash site they went to. If the Helbots wanted to come after his ship, they would have done it by now, he thought.

“I think we should fly back to that area and search for that relay,” said Alexander. “Usually, when Helbots attack they follow until they finally destroy a fleet or army.”

“Alexander, we could be still in Helbot territory,” General Floundo warned him. “You sure you want to try this?”

“The relay is 400 feet underwater. We would have to dive down to get inside that structure,” Alexander said, but snapped his finger as he came up with an idea. “We are just 5 miles east of the west coast. We can dive Helen’s Bravery and propel around the continent to get to the relay as a way of tricking the Helbots if they are still around. I can activate the relay and we would be out of this system in no time.”

“Great idea Alexander!” Aoife gave him two thumbs up.

“Alright once we get to that relay, I will explain more about this relay,” said Alexander. “In the meantime, let’s hope that there are no Helbots lurking around the planet. Let’s get ready.”

Most of Alexander’s men left the briefing room as he, General Floundo, Hortor, and Vyla stayed. General Floundo said, “Alexander, I need a serious talk about your colonel.”

Alexander said, “Colonel Chan fell into a coma when the Spacers destroyed our fleet. We tried to mend his injuries, but don’t have the right tools to help him. We have been keeping him on life support as well as injecting vitamins and medicine.”

General Floundo explained, “My men examined your colonel and his spine is severely ruptured. The discs are dislocated. His nerve cells have been torn apart from the brain. That brain isn’t getting enough oxygen as if should. You don’t have the proper equipment to repair those injuries. I’m very surprised that he is still alive.”

“Oh my god, that is bad,” Alexander was shocked. “His condition is worse than I thought! We have to get back to Republic space asap!”

“We need to take him to Coralla,” said General Floundo. “We have the most advance medical technology and the best doctors to help get him out of the coma soon. If we don’t get him there as fast as possible or he would remain a vegetable.”

“You’re right,” said Alexander. “I need to know first if that relay would take us to Coralla.”

They left the briefing room and headed to the bridge. Alexander ordered Boudicca to dive the ship into the ocean. Everyone got into their seats just before she splashed down. Alpha showed Boudicca the direction to get to the relay. Aoife and Yuya scanned around to see if the Helbots were hiding around waiting for them.

Meanwhile back on Hadean, a Helbot ship flew towards Seiton’s tower. Seeker jumped out of the ship and flew down on his jetpack. The little Helbot sprinted pass other Helbots and skidded towards to the elevator. It took him all the way down into Seiton’s den.

When he got there, Seiton had covered the walls with images of the soldiers died in the hands of Cahan’s Spacers. One of the pictures had Aquamaids floating in a sea of blood. Flying above was a picture of mountains of burning corpses of Humans. Hyger limbs cut to shreds. Survivors were burying their dead at the battlefield. Children were sobbing, many walked around bloodied. Some prayed for this war to be over. Others either ran away or took their own lives. Seiton just laughed as if he was watching a sitcom while looking at those pictures of despair.

Then he spotted Seeker, “Seeker, what is it?”

“I see that you are very happy that the Spacers are on our side,” said Seeker.

Seiton laughed, “With Alexander gone, I have nothing to worry anymore!”

Seeker said, “I was on planet Saudi Pluton of the Katinnae system at the Omega Centauri where we shot down the Aquamaid fleet. An unknown vessel flew out of a portal and rescued the surviving soldiers. Their captain is Alexander.”

    Seiton froze, “What?!”

Seeker displayed a recording he took with one of his probes. The screen spread the front wall of the den. It showed the Helbots advancing towards an Aquamaid crash site on the slope of a mountain. They turned around and began shooting at Alexander’s resistance. The Casters were impaling them with ice missiles while the marines were shooting with their own guns. Seeker paused the recording and zoomed in on Alexander.

“HE IS STILL ALIVE?!” Seiton clutched his fists.

    “Yes,” Seeker nodded.

“Cahan’s Spacers destroyed that whole fleet!” Seiton barked. “How can this creature survive, let alone raising an army?!”

“We are not sure,” said Seeker.

Seiton screamed and his fists glowed blue. Lightning burst out striking every picture into dust. Dust sprinkled down covering the floor as if it was snowing. He tried to pull his horns off his head, but they wouldn’t budge. He lost his breath and bend down to hold his knees.

He snapped, “Med 66, get over here and clean this up!” The Spacer medical probe hovered into the den and began to collect the dust with his mechanical limbs.

“Does Cahan know about this?” Seiton asked Seeker.

    “No, he doesn’t,” said Seeker.

“Call Cahan and let me tell him,” Seiton ordered.

The evil Titan A.I. turned himself into Ogan again as the Helbots waited Cahan to answer. The Spacer finally answered. The holographic screen appeared with Cahan’s face. Seiton changed to his face from being angry to afraid.

“Ogan, what’s going on?” Cahan asked in concern.

“Cahan, I have terrible news,” Seiton trembled. “The Aquamaids had escaped from the planet. They had been rescued by Alexander.”

    “What?!” Cahan snapped.

“It is true,” said Seiton. “Seeker spotted him leading his resistance against the Helbots.”

“How could he had survived?!” Cahan clutched his fists in the air. “I swore that his fleet burst into dust!”

“Cahan, he had survived and rescued the Aquamaids!” Seiton shouted in fear. “You have to track him down and kill him!”

“Seeker spotted him on that planet the Aquamaids crashed?” Cahan asked.

    Seiton nodded.

“He must have the Life Orb,” Cahan snarled. “Have Seeker give me all the information about his sighting and I will track him down myself. I swear to you, Alexander would not stop me! If I come face to face with him, I will grab his corpse and place his heart at the palm of my hands!”

Cahan ended the call and Seiton returned to his original. He laughed knowing how gullible Cahan was to him. Alexander had survived their first attack. He may have formed his first resistance, but Seiton know that he would not stand a chance against his own kind. If Fabocusa come to save him, it would still not matter. He is now eager to watch Alexander die by the hands of the Spacers.
Alexander was reunited with Vyla. Vyla is angry that he left her on Purelif in the first book if you guys remember. They kind of argue about his reason why he had to leave her. He regretted making that decision too.

He got to meet his former bully, Hortor and their General named Floundo. He lets them know that the Spacers are on the Helbots' side. The Aquamaids decided to help them get back home and get Colonel Chan medical attention.

Meanwhile, Seiton and the Helbots discovered that Alexander is still alive. Seiton is angry that he survived. So he ordered Cahan to hunt down Alexander and kill him. Seiton believed that Alexander would not be able to fight off the Spacers, since that is his other half.

Enjoy!

I can understand why Vyla is upset, but I'm happy they've reunited. I mean six years is a long time :O
Oooh things are picking up. Also, Seiton knows Alexander is still alive. That's not good. I hope Alexander finds out before Cahan gets him.
A great chapter. Can't wait for more :)
