Dodging Rocks In Space

    The gas blackens the sky of Demeter and a downpour of debris came down. Many of the citizens tried to cover their heads with umbrellas and motor helmets for protection. A few of them ran into the buildings, but got hit in the head by the fast falling debris. The glass on the buildings of the cloud city shattered down into the streets like freezing rain. Marines grabbed a few people out of the falling debris and got them inside their ships.

    Alexander and the others ran down the streets and grabbed a warthog with a roof on it. He took the driver’s seat while O’Reilly took the passenger seat. As he started driving, many hovercrafts and hovervans were driving around blindly crashing into each other and the buildings.

    “You better not crash this vehicle,” O’Reilly warned him.

    “Then you better fasten your seatbelts,” Alexander warned him and everyone else.

    He rose the hovercraft into the air just before another one was about to hit them head on. The debris was covering the windshield and he had to turn on the wipers. Meteors were coming down at an angle towards them smashing buildings and vehicles. He kept an eye on the meteors and dodged out of the way just as they were coming at them. Hovercrafts were about to collide at them, but he dived down and dodged more incoming meteors. They had to get to the north base before this city becomes destroyed.

    In attempt to save their cloud city, marines fired with missile turrets at the falling debris. It may not save the city, but it would give the people time to escape from the planet. A few war ships hovered over the city firing the debris as well. The size of the asteroids and meteors increases as they kept smashing into the planet. A few crashed into the ocean creating tsunamis. The forests started catching on fire, which spread across the land.

    Alexander and his friends drove as fast as possible to get to the Superior. They clutched against their seats as he was twisting and turning the hovercraft as if he was street racing in one of the Fast and Furious movies. He was able to see the entrance to the north base and hits the accelerator as they got through the gate.

    They got through, but Alexander didn’t stop the hovercraft. He passed by tanks and warthogs who were heading towards the Superior. The Superior had its turrets on firing missiles and lasers on the incoming debris as many people ran to get inside. Some of them got on gun-ships, drop-ships, and fighter-ships and flew out of the ship in a fast pace. Alexander flies the warthog into the hangar and slammed the brakes. They got out shaken up by Alexander’s horrific driving event. There wasn’t enough time to take a breath now they got inside the ship. They inside the bridge and had the pilot start the ship up.

    “General, we need our suits and weapons now,” said Alexander to O’Reilly.

    “I got them in my office,” said O’Reilly and handed him the key. “Get them now!”

    Alexander raced into the office and got his starsuit back. He handed the weapons and battle suits to his comrades and they immediately took their clothes off as they put them on. Alexander puts on his starsuit and loaded his solar assault and mini-gun. They ran out of the office carrying their weapons.

    Colonel Chan ran up to them and said, “Guys, I need you to give me your assault rifle and battle suit.”

    “Are you coming to fight with us?” Aoife asked.

    “Hell, I have not been in combat for five years,” Colonel Chan said. “When we get out of here, we might head to a battlefield that may be my last. I want it to be worth it!”

    They gave him a battle suit and put it on like he was a fireman about to go rescue people out of a burning house. He loaded his shotgun and grabbed a couple machine guns. Alexander’s team looked at him as they never seen him like that before.

    Colonel Chan smiled, “Just like old times!”

    They ran back into the bridge just as the Superior was hovering over the base heading for its next launch. It still was firing at the debris and raised its shields to increase its protection. Then a massive asteroid the size of New York City was about to collide to the cloud city. The pilot quickly activated the launch and the Superior blasted out of the city just as it was completely destroyed. The pilot was using x-rays and MRI scanners to see through the dust and gas as he was flying the ship out of the atmosphere. Alexander decided to help him pass the raining debris and dodging larger chunks.

    The ship was out of the atmosphere, but massive chunks of Demeter’s moons had been smashed into pieces flying around the planet and later crashed into the surface. The Superior had to dodge the chunks as they tried to fly away from the planet as much as possible. The marines continued to fire the missiles and lasers at the chunks that were coming towards them. There were a couple war ships that were about to get hit by the chunks and the Superior rushed for with assistance and blasted the chunks away from the ships.

    Then Admiral Kendrick called on their communication channels, “Superior, this is Admiral Kendrick! Thanks for saving my last two ships!”

    “No time to talk, we got to get the hell out of this system!” O’Reilly shouted.

    “We will stay together keeping each other’s backs,” said Admiral Kendrick.

    The Odyssey fleet and Superior came side by side as they prepared to escape from this hell of a star system. The planets collided with each other and shattered creating giant waves of incoming space debris. One asteroid was heading straight towards and another one was coming at the left side of the fleet. They turned to a slight right and warped passed them as those two rocks smashed each other. Then moon sized asteroids flew to both sides of the fleet to crush them.

    “Jackson, raise the warp speed!” O’Reilly ordered.

    “We will get smashed if we do!” Jackson thought that it was crazy.

    “Do it!” O’Reilly barked.

    “I’ll help you dodge those asteroids,” said Alexander.

    Jackson increased the warp speed and the other two ships increased their speeds to follow the Superior. Then chunks of ice and fireballs of meteors spew head on. The marines aimed at those and fired the lasers at the ice and torpedoes at the fireballs. They blasted out between the asteroids just as they smashed together. A massive asteroid burst into flames turning into an earth sized meteor and flew into another gas giant. It collided with that planet causing the gas and liquid and spew out along with the rings.

    The tsunami of the remains of that planet rushed towards the fleet. They couldn’t turn to the side to get away since it was moving as an unprecedented rate. It blew at the fleet like a massive sandstorm of the Sahara. The ships were getting pulled back by the force from the explosion making it hard for them to move forward.

    “Damn it!” O’Reilly shouted. “We are trapped!”

    “Jackson, keep dodging the debris while we are trying to find a way to break free,” Alexander ordered.

    “We have to increase the warp speed,” said O’Reilly.

    “No matter how much power I add, we are still trapped by that powerful shock wave from the explosion,” said Jackson.

    “If we tilt the ship down at an angle, we can push through,” said Alexander.

    “Jackson, tilt the ship down at an angle of 45 degrees,” said O’Reilly. “Colonel, get the other ships to do the same.”

    The Superior tilted downward as the debris still pushing them back. Jackson increased the warp speed and they slowly began to move forward again. O’Reilly ordered marines to fire their turrets at from the top of the ship as the debris was raining to the top. The other ships followed them downward as well. The more they go down, their speed gradually increased. Eventually, they got out of the planet’s way and flew passed more debris. It seemed as though they would be in this violent blanket of smashing asteroids for a long time.

    The small fragments of asteroids scratched against the ships, but not causing severe damage. Just as long as no larger ones come towards them for a collision. The area seemed to be clearing from the dust and gas meaning that they could be heading out of the system. Then heading straight to them were chunks of ice blasts out of another planet. But with Alexander’s help, Jackson was able to dodge them and the other ships destroyed those chunks. The gas and dust was cleared out and there were just bits and piece of rock and ice floating around.

    “Yes, we got out!” Colonel Chan cheered.

    “Oh my god, my palms are sweating!” Jackson shouted looking at his hands.

    “We did it guys!” O’Reilly smiled.

    “But we are not out of woods yet,” said Alexander.

     “He is right, we still need to get to the Lotus,” said Colonel Chan.

    “Sirs, I am picking up an unidentified object just a hundred million light years from us,” said Jackson.

    “Magnify it,” said O’Reilly.

    Jackson magnified the location of the object and displayed it as a holograph at the center of the bridge. The object looked like a flower with five petals opened up. There was a long stem with five long pods connected around it. Alexander and Alpha knew actually that that was.

    “Is that the Lotus?” O’Reilly asked with concern.

    “Yes,” Alexander stated. “And we have to destroy it now!”

    “Sir, I am picking up Helbot ships flying straight toward the starboard side!” Jackson shouted looked at his radar.

    “Oh great!” O’Reilly shouted.
